Meet Jillian

Founder of Sanctuary Healing Arts

Healing is not about fixing what’s broken.

It’s about remembering what’s already whole.

I’m Jillian Coogan, founder of Sanctuary Healing Arts.

I’m a yoga teacher, licensed massage therapist, and integrative healer with over twenty years of experience supporting people through pain, stress, and transition.

My work is rooted in nervous system science , trauma-informed bodywork, and relational presence. Sessions are collaborative, grounded, and guided by what your body is ready for, supported by movement, breath, sound, and plant allies.

Sanctuary Healing Arts was created as a place to land.

A place where the body is listened to, not overridden .

Healing here happens through safety, presence, and relationship rather than force.

My Path

My journey in the healing arts began early, shaped by a lineage that honored both the physical body and the unseen layers beneath it. Like many who are drawn to this work, my path was forged through lived experience and a deep listening to what the body asks for when it is overwhelmed or in pain.

Over the years, I came to understand that real healing does not come from willpower alone. It emerges when the nervous system feels safe enough to soften, feel, and reorganize. That understanding continues to guide how I work with others.

My studies have taken me around the world. I trained in yoga in India, lived in an ashram, supported teacher trainings, and taught internationally. Time spent in Peru and the Amazon deepened my relationship with somatic healing and plant wisdom, shaping a grounded and respectful approach to integration.

Sanctuary Healing Arts is the synthesis of that journey. It is personal, professional, and embodied.

How I Work

My work is intuitive, trauma-informed, and grounded in anatomy, physiology, and nervous system science.

Every session is responsive to the person in front of me. I listen carefully to your words, your breath, your tissues, and the patterns beneath the patterns. Sessions may include elements of massage therapy, craniosacral work, assisted stretching, subtle energy work, breath awareness, or nervous system support, depending on what your body is asking for.

  • Nervous system regulation and emotional integration

  • Relief from chronic pain, stress, and holding patterns

  • Reconnection to sensation, safety, and self trust

  • Sustainable change through regular, supportive care

Plant Allies

Alongside hands on work and movement, I create Inner Sanctum, a small, in-house collection of plant based offerings designed to support the nervous system and emotional body.

These include aromatherapy blends, handmade butters, oil infusions, and herbal tinctures. Each is designed as both support and ritual, meant to be used with care and consistency, in relationship with the body rather than as a quick fix.

Plants are not a shortcut.

They are allies.

The Sanctuary Philosophy

Sanctuary Healing Arts is not about pushing, fixing, or performing wellness.

It’s about creating the conditions for your body to do what it already knows how to do.

My role is not to override or direct your healing.

It’s to walk alongside you as you with skill, presence, and care as your system finds its way.
